ECONOMY
In 1960, Detroit had the highest per capita income in the country. One blue-collar job could support a family.
Our Downriver way of life was created in that environment and our communities flourished.
We must protect our existing manufacturing jobs, create tens of thousands of new jobs, and become a manufacturing super-power once again.
The backbone of Michigan's manufacturing sector is the auto industry, which has been decimated by free trade policies and will be further diminished (by as much as 40 percent) through the forced transition to electric vehicles. In Lansing, I will oppose such mandates and I will fight to create an environment for a rebirth of manufacturing in key sectors such as auto, machine tools, modern energy production, and aerospace. I will work with like-minded elected officials nationally to adopt an America First trade and tariff policy to protect the vital manufacturing sector.
During the 2023 UAW strike, I visited the picket lines and found tremendous support for Donald Trump's Agenda47 proposals to save our auto industry from free trade and green mandates.
